Dehumidifiers reduce moisture in the air to improve your indoor air quality and decrease the risk of mold and other moisture-related problems. Reducing excess humidity also helps you save on your energy bills by reducing your need for cooling.
Reducing humidity is often as simple as making sure there are adequate exhaust vents in your bathroom and using a humidifier during the winter. But if these measures aren’t enough, you may need a dehumidifier to remove moisture from the air in your home.
Every home has some level of humidity due to natural processes such as breathing and sweating. Ideally, humidity should stay between 40% and 60%, which is what we consider comfortable levels. When humidity reaches higher levels, conditions become ripe for mold and bacteria growth, especially if you live in an older home with less than ideal ventilation.
